The Greater Vancouver Food Bank

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank was set up as a temporary relief to the hunger crisis in 1983 and has grown significantly in the three decades since then.
Today the GVFB provides assistance to approximately 8,500 people weekly through 13 locations across Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, and the North Shore. They also provide food support to approximately 80 community agencies throughout these communities, who in turn provide meals and snacks to thousands of people each week.

The GVFB receives, purchases, and distributes approximately 4.5 million pounds of food each year and in times of crisis such as the one we are currently experiencing their help is of the utmost importance to those in need. They have had to find new food distribution locations that are provincial health protocol approved in order to protect the safety and wellbeing of their clients and volunteers and keep up with the growing demand for aid.

It is organizations like the GVFB that help keep our communities strong when they are at their weakest. We hope you have the time to learn more about this great local organization.
