BAGGAGE SYSTEM INITIATIVES

3BP has been engaged to provide project management services to the Vancouver Airport Authority for a number of baggage initiatives at Vancouver International Airport. The roles include the following:

East Backbone Extension – Project Manager for the implementation of a new transfer bag induct to allow transfer bags to be dropped in Transborder to connect to the Baggage Backbone, providing additional capacity to process International-to-Domestic bags. This project involves an extension of the Transborder Loop and installation of a new Tubtrax loader, CT screening, multiple building service relocations and a building canopy.

Recheck to Domestic (RD) Line Capacity – Project Manager for building and baggage work for a baggage line which has reached capacity during peak hours. The RDLC project will increase the check-in capacity on Level 3 for both International and Transborder check-in areas.

Pier C Transfer Inducts and Sortation – Project Manager for the Pier C Transfer inducts project,  which leverages the Baggage Backbone system and provides additional transfer drops in the domestic gates increasing overall transfer induction capacity to streamline the delivery of connecting baggage. The project is a renovation within the Domestic terminal involving multiple stakeholders, including Air Canada, Airside Operations, Maple Leaf Lounge and others.

International Check-in Enhancements – Project Manager for the building work which aims to improve check-in efficiency and add capacity for international flights by converting portions of international check-in area to self-serve. The project also involves the designing of a new collector and check-in counters in a former restaurant space and installing a new collector in the Transborder area.
